The Mouw Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA is looking for an exceptional research technician interested in studying the role of DNA repair pathway alterations in tumor biology and therapy response. The laboratory uses genomic and functional approaches to understand how DNA damage and repair processes drive genomic instability, tumor evolution, and treatment resistance. Much of the work focuses on genitourinary malignancies, including bladder and prostate cancer, with interest in DNA repair across tumor types. The research technician will be part of a collaborative environment and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities within the laboratory, Dana-Farber, Harvard Medical School, and other Boston-area institutions. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and independent, yet willing to collaborate with other team members. We are seeking candidates with at least two years of availability and laboratory research experience in molecular biology/cell biology/biochemistry/cancer biology and/or a strong background in computational biology/statistics. May 2026 grads or degreed candidates available sooner will be considered. Research technicians from the Mouw laboratory often matriculate to medical and/or graduate school programs to advance their careers. We conduct groundbreaking research, educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and collaborate with partners including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment. Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas; may be responsible for ordering supplies and negotiating with vendors. Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses, including collection of information and samples from organic substances (e.g., blood, drugs, animals). Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination. Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings, including grant preparation and presentations; may co-author publications and participate in results presentations. Participate in grant application processes and manuscript preparation as required. Maintain a detailed notebook of all work-related activities. Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information and standard operating procedures. Stay current with appropriate literature and research publications; provide intellectual and collaborative commitment to the position. May develop, modify, or improve standard operating procedures. Use computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology applications to perform duties. May design and execute advanced experiments and help set strategy. May examine animals and specimens to detect disease or problems. May monitor laboratory budgets. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required with a major in biology or chemistry preferred. Knowledge of biology, chemistry, or medicine techniques is preferred. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems. Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks. Ability to work within a team environment.
