Senior Coordinator of Suicide Grief Support Services, LOSS Team

Samaritans, Inc. is hiring for the Senior Coordinator of Suicide Grief Support Services, LOSS Team. The Senior Coordinator provides oversight and support to SGSS LOSS Team Members and manages service offerings that support those bereaved by suicide. The role collaborates with SGSS leadership to develop best practices, create departmental plans, and measure program results. Reports to: Senior Director of Suicide Grief Support Services Management responsibility for: Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors Team Members Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee all daily LOSS Team operations, including on-call scheduling, delayed response coordination and scheduling (SSN’s) incident response, and ensuring procedures are consistently followed and adapted to departmental needs Serve as the primary point of contact for police departments, medical examiners, and other community first responders, cultivating and sustaining strong working partnerships Maintain accurate and confidential records of outreach responses and survivor contacts. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts and follow-up procedures, track data and outcomes related to survivor engagement and volunteer participation for reports and continuous quality improvement Contribute to grant reporting, program documentation, and provide meeting minutes, training materials, and updated on-call schedules to team members monthly Assist with establishing and maintaining LOSS team community partnerships Help evaluate LOSS team efficacy Prepare LOSS Team bags for activations On-call responses: promptly respond to callouts, accompany team members as needed, and uphold the organization’s mission with professionalism; respond to the scene of a suicide death and provide immediate crisis support to suicide loss survivors in person or by phone Ensure team members have adequate supplies and resources to leave behind at scenes Support survivors through follow-up communication and connection to Samaritan’s resources Respond to calls from the public and requests for information and resources from families, friends, workplaces, and anyone affected by suicide Schedule delayed advocacy visits with survivors with the LOSS Team Maintain a high level of knowledge of best practices, research, and resources related to suicide prevention, postvention, and grief support services Alert supervisor to potential crisis or urgent situations related to activations or supporting any loss survivor Team Member Support

Provide support to volunteer peer facilitators, specialists and LOSS team members Recruit, screen, and provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing training for new LOSS Team members on policies, procedures, and best practices Provide ongoing mentorship and emotional support for team members, ensuring self-care and adherence to protocols Lead monthly team debriefs after a response and identify ongoing training needs Implement volunteer facilitator and LOSS Team recruitment and retention strategies Coordinate all volunteer facilitator and LOSS Team schedules Assist with coordination and delivery of volunteer trainings Outreach & Survivor Support

Coordinate Survivor to Survivor programming including scheduling, budget monitoring and quality assurance Plan and execute Grief Support related events including, but not limited to, Annual Memorial, 5K, International Suicide Loss Survivor Day, Long-term Suicide Loss Survivor Day Attend SGSS Events listed above, organize materials and recruit volunteers to work at the event Maintain accurate and updated records in the Salesforce database ensuring all meetings and contacts are tracked appropriately Assist with communication and public awareness campaigns to support survivor services Collaborate internally and participate in cross-functional programming when appropriate Use technology to evaluate programs and to reach more people with Grief Support Services Represent GSS at other organization-wide events as necessary Participate in meetings with stakeholders Have knowledge of trauma-informed service delivery and the grief process and its impact on family systems Have knowledge of the field of suicide and suicide prevention (a plus) Due to on-call responsibilities, participate in an on-call rotation 24/7/365, including potential scene responses; occasional local travel for outreach, trainings, or events Key Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in human services Suicide loss survivor preferred Strong communication skills, including the ability to make effective and persuasive presentations Adept at interacting with others in person, over the phone, on Zoom, or via email Ability to work with staff, managers, and external parties in a professional, respectful, and sensitive manner Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality Ability to work independently and collaboratively to maximize teamwork across the organization Ability to evaluate problems accurately and resolve conflict with sound judgment Able to perform job responsibilities in a high-stress environment Comfort responding to the scene of a suicide death and entering homes where a death has just occurred Special Requirements
