Key Responsibilities

Insurance Program Management

Manage relationships with our insurance broker (excluding benefits)

Oversee wholly owned captive insurance company operations, including underwriting high-deductible policies and managing subcontractor default policies

Review and bind renewals for corporate practice insurance policies such as:

Corporate General Liability (CGL)

Professional and Pollution Liability

Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability

Master Builders Risk

Automobile

Equipment

Property Insurance

Workers Compensation Insurance

Facilitate project Builders Risk insurance for all projects and Rolling CCIPs for residential projects

Direct the review process for owner-provided insurance to ensure adequacy, including OCIP for CGL and/or workers compensation, and owner-provided Builders Risk

Supervise the reporting and management of insurance claims (excluding large or disputed claims handled by the Chief Legal Officer), including auto, workers compensation, builders risk, and CGL claims

Supervise Risk Management Clerks in reviewing subcontractor insurance certificates and compliance documentation

Support executives, project teams and office staff in insurance-related discussions with project owners

Risk Strategy and Execution

Lead the identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring of the company's operational and strategic risk

Work with the executive team to develop risk management goals and strategy and ensure proper practices are in place

Collaborate with the COO to assist in managing operational risk

Create a culture of risk awareness and mitigation

Enterprise Risk Management

Develop and implement strategies to reduce enterprise risk related to insurance

Develop effective training and communication programs

Coordinate with the Director of Learning and Development as needed

Attend monthly National Safety Team meetings and work with the CFO and Safety leadership to increase the effectiveness of enterprise safety initiatives

Qualifications

Experience managing captive insurance companies

Strong understanding of enterprise risk management

Executive leadership experience

Experience with Safety programs and regulations

Ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple priorities

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in risk management and commercial insurance

Preferred Skills

Advanced degree in risk management or compliance (preferred but not required)

Experience with large-scale construction project insurance

Demonstrated leadership in developing new programs and improving existing processes
