Overview

The General Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations. This position is responsible for the P&L and general management of the operation. With direct responsibilities for Operations and Production Programs along with direct coordination with Business Development, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Procurement, Safety, Research and Development, Sales and Human Resources. This individual will ensure quality, profitability and growth of our product portfolio. The role will require effective cross-functional and collaborative teamwork to achieve business results. Primary Responsibilities

Operations Responsible for organizational development and long-term operations, sales and administrative development for business. Have full management responsibility for all business operations (P&L and program performance). Acquire, align and prioritize resources and operational plans to support team and company objectives. Manage the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives for both manufacturing and back-office functions. Workforce planning Generate annual capital expenditure budget, including new machinery, tooling, material handling equipment, automation, etc. Manage implementation of capital improvement projects – design and engineering, purchasing, installation, schedule and budget costs. Work with product management team on new product development, providing information and data related to product design & costs, capacity planning, product performance, tooling costs, and schedule. Manage maintenance and mechanic programs, dispatch and customer service Build strong relationships with the customer base and ensure customer requirements are met. Organize and oversee sales programs and personnel by: developing sales goals that meet/exceed annual budget/forecast, establishing sales compensation structures, monitoring sales efforts, regularly visiting key customers. Administration Develop and oversee administration functions of plant, including human resources and training programs. Provide leadership across the organization for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Develop the talent in the organization, including a strong succession plan, accounting and creating of management reports. Initiate and inspire short-term and long-term planning efforts, including: set goals and objectives for plant and assist subordinates to set goals and objectives; communicate effectively and create an environment that encourages and supports free, honest and effective communication. Knowledge/Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and staff at various organizational levels. Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency; strategic thinking, innovation and forecasting ability. Solid listening skills and learning agility. Proven ability to develop and implement new strategies in a competitive environment and a track record in successfully managing a business through change. Commitment to hiring and retaining the best and acting on marginal performance. Ability to provide strong leadership to the management team and build confidence – should be a clear, strategic thinker with a willingness to take a more hands-on, operational approach where appropriate. Energetic, open, and direct manner. Must have the stature and confidence to make difficult decisions. Experience/Education

Five (5) years progressive management experience with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a General/Plant Management role. Strong track record of delivering operational and financial results. Experience in manufacturing or construction environment preferred. Seniority level
