The Project Director (Vision Cloud Network Engineer) will serve as a senior cloud network engineer assisting with the design and deployment of cloud network connectivity. This role supports network connectivity for multiple NYS agencies and their applications across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and NYS data centers. The candidate will use extensive experience in physical, virtual, and cloud network technologies to achieve project objectives and train junior staff. Base pay range

$118,425.00/yr - $145,039.00/yr Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and lead in the orchestration of multi-discipline technologies for the resolution of complex problems; communicate with technology and business leaders for problem resolution and recommend system enhancements as required Design, deploy, and maintain cloud networking infrastructure in AWS, Azure, and GCP to support new and existing NYS agency application deployments in the cloud Design, deploy, and maintain network virtual appliances (e.g., Arista CloudEOS and Palo Alto PAN-OS) with integrations into CSP network infrastructure (GCP NCC, AWS TGW Connect, etc.) Design and implement on-prem to cloud connectivity solutions in collaboration with the Information Security Office (ISO) and network/application architecture teams Collaborate and troubleshoot with direct cloud connectivity providers to develop solutions and solve problems Assist in the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for uniform cloud configuration, deployment, and backup solutions Provide in-depth analysis on network performance using monitoring tools (e.g., Zenoss, Splunk, Palo Alto Panorama, Arista Cloud Vision as a Service, NfSen, Ixia, Gigastor, Wireshark) Oversee change control procedures, code upgrades, network monitoring, installations, moves and changes, and troubleshooting to maximize network availability Oversee network monitoring to ensure maximum availability Participate in network performance analysis, training, and capacity planning Document all design and implementation work using Microsoft Visio Participate in knowledge transfer and training sessions with junior staff Occasional travel may be required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Eight years of broad information technology (IT) experience, with a comprehensive understanding of cloud and data center network engineering in large-scale organizations At least five (5) years of specialized experience in cloud-based applications solution architecture, cloud network engineering, or related technical role; including two (2) years of supervisory-level experience or one (1) year of managerial experience in cloud networking architecture, cloud engineering, or related technical field Education/Experience Substitutions Bachelor’s degree substitutes for 4 years of experience Master’s degree substitutes for an additional 1 year of experience Doctoral degree substitutes for an additional 2 years of experience Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to work independently and as a team member Proven ability to lead teams and develop network engineers Analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills Expert in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP network infrastructure Working knowledge of CSP application platforms and their networking requirements (Kubernetes engines/services, ASE, serverless, etc.) Proficiency in three or more of the following: Terraform, Layer 3 routing (BGP, VRFs, route maps, NAT, subnetting), Palo Alto PAN-OS, IPSec and MACsec encrypted transport, CSP dedicated connectivity (AWS DirectConnect, Azure ExpressRoute, GCP Interconnect), monitoring and packet capture/analysis tools (Zenoss, Splunk, Palo Alto Panorama, Arista Cloud Vision, NfSen, Ixia, Gigastor, Wireshark) Networking and Cloud certifications Additional Information

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. ITS does not hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or sponsor non-immigrant visas for permanent residence. Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require travel up to 25% and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Location-based adjustments: New York City downstate and Mid-Hudson adjustments may apply. During NY HELPS Program duration, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment; expect potential conversion to competitive status within one year. Benefits
