Overview
Position Title: LPS District Ensemble Director for Modern Vocal Ensemble
Location: District Office
Position Details The LPS District Ensemble Director for the High School Modern Vocal Ensemble works with selected high school vocal students in grades 9-12 for a district-wide choir. With an emphasis on music that is accessible and meaningful to the students of the ensemble, the director will help deepen cultural experience through history, shared experiences, and musical context of selected repertoire. The director is responsible for auditioning students district-wide, parent communication, conducting weekly rehearsals and sectionals, concert set-up/tear-down, sharing responsibilities with a co-director and other duties as assigned that support the ensemble. Music Education degree with string experience preferred. Rehearsals will follow the LPS calendar and meet for two hours, one day per week. Includes public performances and semester concerts.
Compensation and Reporting Compensation through Extra Standard Stipend $5710. Non-contractual assignment. Reports to Supervisor of Music.
Position subject to veteran's preference.
Education and Certification
Education Level: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
Certification: Must have a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
Required Experience: Knowledge of music curriculum and effective teaching methods. Demonstrated successful classroom experience teaching music.
Other Requirements: Successful experience in leadership (e.g., school improvement committee, team leader, Department Chair, liaison, etc.) is desired.
