This is the journey level for an advanced practice clinical nurse specialist and will serve as the clinical nurse leader for a program or area of nursing practice. The CNS will typically partner with the nurse manager to lead the nursing clinical practice area and will support GI/Hepatology locations and Endoscopy units during operating hours (6:30am–7:00pm) to improve education and process improvement. Responsibilities
Serve as the clinical nurse leader for a program or area of nursing practice. Collaborate with nursing management to develop and implement strategies, policies, and programs within nursing clinical practice areas. Lead education and process improvement initiatives across GI/Hepatology locations and Endoscopy units during hours of operation (6:30am–7:00pm). Minimum Qualifications
Advanced degree in Nursing and/or equivalent experience/training. Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California. Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) license issued by the state of California or licensure/certification in another advanced nurse practice discipline. BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire date. Five (5+) or more years of recent and relevant clinical experience including recent GI/Hepatology Endoscopy experience. In-depth knowledge of one or more clinical specialty areas, including diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice, and patient/family educational resources. Advanced knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address highly complex issues and develop multiple resolution options. Advanced interpersonal skills to educate, train, and direct nursing staff and to build positive relationships with patients, families, employees, and outside agencies as required. Advanced written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly. Preferred Qualifications
GI certification. Recent clinical experience in progressive care or critical care. Five (5+) or more years of recent and relevant educator experience. Specialty certification in related nursing field. Evidence of training in health equity, diversity, and inclusion. Experience in academic medical centers. Experience with professional presentations and publications, including work on education and process improvement health initiatives. SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43. Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs. The posted annual full pay range may be broader than what the university expects to pay for this position due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining (when applicable).
