We are hiring a Director of Nursing Services to join our dynamic care team at Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Sandisfield! Berkshire Rehab is a 57-bed, all-male facility. Plans, organizes, develops, and directs the nursing service department in accordance with state and federal guidelines and the scope of patient care. Maintains and reviews, and provides input to, development of all clinical policies and procedures. Develops and implements a nursing service organizational structure. Determines staffing needs of the nursing service department and makes recommendations to the Administrator to meet residents\' needs. Oversees licensed nursing staff. Develops work assignments and schedules duty hours, and assists nursing supervisor staff to ensure quality of care. Develops and maintains an on-call program for the nursing department. Makes daily rounds of each nursing unit and conducts visual inspections. Reviews satisfaction of care and services with interviews of families and residents. Assists the Infection Preventionist in establishing and maintaining the Infection Control Program. Assists the Director of Staff Development in ensuring that all mandatory in-service education sessions are performed per schedule and documented. Assists the Administrator in developing safety standards for the nursing department and monitors these through employee incidents, developing plans of correction and audits; active member of the Safety Committee. Abides by all reporting policies and measures set forth by Athena Health Care Systems. Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; B.S.N. preferred. Must possess an active and unencumbered RN license in Massachusetts. CPR certified. Certification in Gerontology preferred. Minimum one (1) year of experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing and one (1) year of nursing administration (e.g., DNS, ADNS, Staff Development). Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to make independent decisions and to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines for long-term care. Knowledge of privacy rules and ability to ensure staff compliance with privacy policies. Leadership ability and willingness to work with professional and non-professional personnel. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, policies, and procedures for quality care. Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm; ability to handle difficult residents. Willingness to seek out and incorporate new methods and principles into nursing practices. Ability to communicate effectively regarding emergency situations. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice. About Athena Health Care Systems
