Instructor/Assistant Professor, Chemistry – Department of Chemistry, Arnold/Main Campus. Full-Time Faculty, Exempt. Salary Range: $58,055-$72,915. Work Mode: This position requires regular in-person presence on campus and at alternative locations, depending on class schedule and other assigned duties. Hours per Week: 40. Overview

Strong candidates will demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based teaching practices and how they can be applied in a college classroom to help students succeed. Primary Responsibilities

30 faculty load hours annually taught during Fall and Spring Terms – may include face-to-face, online, or hybrid instruction and instruction at off-site locations depending on student need 6 office hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, which may include student advising and mentoring Teaching and assessing student learning Professional development Department, school, and college/community service Other Responsibilities

Mentoring students from target groups; new full-time faculty; part-time faculty Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for all learning modalities Training and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.) Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programs Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community Recruiting and marketing Devising retention strategies and activities Strengthening relationships and collaborative activities including K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues Teach General Chemistry 1 and 2 lecture and lab courses using evidence-based teaching practices Remain current on effective teaching and learning practices that promote equity and inclusion in science Teach other courses such as CHE 113, 115, 213, 214 as needed Collaboratively and independently develop accessible course materials and curriculum Serve on department and institutional committees Accept any special assignments that further the mission of AACC Availability to teach evenings and/or weekends as needed Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in chemistry or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate courses in areas related to chemistry Demonstrated experience teaching college-level introductory chemistry courses Demonstrated experience with teamwork/collaboration in teaching and/or course development Ability to deliver required, predefined course curriculum while incorporating individual knowledge and experiences to engage students and make the course relevant Experience teaching with learning management systems and electronic textbook resources Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in evidence-based pedagogy and classroom management techniques designed to maximize student success Experience teaching community college introductory chemistry courses Expertise with LMS and best practices for design of online components of a course Curriculum development experience for face-to-face and/or online chemistry courses that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism Demonstrated ability to create accessible course materials Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish Experience mentoring undergraduates Experience working with science outreach activities in the community Active involvement in chemistry teaching organizations Ph.D. preferred Employment Details
