Understands and applies OBRA Regulations. Understands and applies principles of adult learning. Collaborates with facility department directors to orient and educate staff, ensuring all mandatory and regulatory education requirements are met within the facility. Conducts nursing practice competency assessments with attention to management of medically complex patients (e.g., cardiac, heart failure, stroke, respiratory care needs such as tracheostomy, ventilation, etc.). Regularly conducts education needs assessments to identify areas for improvement. Directs in-service educational programs for compliance with Federal, OSHA, State and JACHO regulations and corporate policy. Ensures integrity of educational programs by preparing and scheduling instructional materials and training aids; provides state-of-the-art in-service programs using corporate-approved forms and documentation. Schedules and communicates in-service training according to facility needs. Ensures equipment and knowledgeable instructors are available for in-service material. Conducts regular staff education meetings and ensures training spaces are prepared. Recommends equipment and supply needs to the administrator. Assesses staff learning needs through direct observation, formal assessments, and review of quality improvement or program evaluation. Works with Corporate Education & Development as necessary and implements recommended changes. Facilitates training related to electronic software programs and required certifications (e.g., Intravenous and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). Maintains attendance records and documentation of in-services in accordance with regulatory guidelines and corporate policies. Assists licensed/certified nursing personnel in obtaining in-service training to keep licenses/certifications current per state law and policy. Obtains certification as a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association and provides CPR certification for designated employees. Coordinates Employee Health Program and maintains employee records per regulations. Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing 1+ years nursing supervision experience in the long-term care setting Educator in nursing practices Active licensed Registered Nurse in assigned state(s) of employment Certified Instructor for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification in Gerontology or Education by American Nurses Credentialing Center – desirable Holds membership in professional education and nursing associations – desirable About Us
