Directs retail and specialty pharmacy operations and pharmacy-led clinics to ensure alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the department and organization. The value you’ll bring to the team:
Remains current of new trends and best practices and incorporates into the Outpatient Pharmacy practices and programs
Develop, analyze and control annual operating/personnel budgets for Outpatient Pharmacy services and programs
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations affecting community pharmacies and pharmacy-run clinics
Continually assesses all services, identifies problems, utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches or solutions
Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes; manages resources for staff participation in improvement work activities
Identify, analyze, and implement strategies to overcome the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the provision of pharmaceutical care in healthsystem outpatient pharmacy.
Identify high-cost drug use and develop corrective strategies
Provide support to Retail Pharmacy Managers in order to assure consistency of outpatient/retail pharmacy services across the region, and aligns with corporate initiatives and policies
Develop and maintain NABP Digital Pharmacy policies and procedures in order to assure high quality pharmaceutical care and meet accreditation requirements
Responsible for the day-to-day management, compliance review, and operations of outpatient prescriptions fulfilled by inhouse pharmacy
Interact with payers, insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other stakeholders in order to create visibility for specialty pharmacy services and establish relationships to grow and sustain the business
Provide support for Manager, Specialty and Ambulatory Pharmacy to assure consistaency of specialty pharmacy services
Ensure accreditation surveys are successful (e.g., URAC, ACHC, TJC) and that information needed for such surveys is readily accessible; ensure action plans are developed and implemented if required after surveys
The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed
Pharmacy degree (B.S. and/or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required
Five years of pharmacy experience required
Five years of leadership or management experience required; Seven or more years pharmacy leadership or management preferred
Previous experience in a Retail Pharmacy setting, with emphasis on a Specialty Medication Program required
Advanced Certification (e.g. BCACP, CSP, FACHE) Preferred
Pharmacist credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. In good standing Required.
Specialty Pharmacy, Outpatient, Medication Management Therapy experience preferred
Experience Managing Residency Programs preferred
340B experience is a plus
