Senior Manager, Data Engineering (AWS, Gen AI, Innovation Management). Capital One's People Technology Innovation Lab is hiring a new Manager to lead our dynamic team. What You'll Do

Lead and inspire: Manage a team of innovators, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development to help them reach their full potential.

Drive an innovation culture: Plan and execute ideation events like pitch competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges to encourage new ideas and collaboration across the organization.

Champion emerging technologies: Oversee the development of innovative use cases using Generative AI, Knowledge Graphs, and machine learning.

Leverage data as a strategic asset: Partner with data scientists and analysts to ensure data is a core component of all innovation efforts, turning raw data into actionable insights and strategic products.

Manage the innovation pipeline: Facilitate the end-to-end innovation process, from ideation and concept validation to prototyping and potential handoff for production.

Build key partnerships: Collaborate with leaders and teams across Capital One's People Tech organization to identify pain points and opportunities for innovation.

Communicate and influence: Act as a thought leader, communicating the value and impact of the team's work to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

At least 6 years of experience in application development (Internship experience does not apply)

At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies

At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

9+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java

4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

5+ years experience with Distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL)

4+ years of experience with real-time data and streaming applications

4+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra)

4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)

4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting

2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices

6+ years of people management experience

2+ years of experience in innovation management or working in an early-stage startup environment

Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Plano, TX: $204,900 - $233,800; McLean, VA: $225,400 - $257,200; Richmond, VA: $204,900 - $233,800; Chicago, IL: $204,900 - $233,800.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered will be reflected in the offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
