Under the direction of the District VP of Operations, the Aquatics Director is responsible for the management and operation of Princeton YMCA’s aquatics programs; pool and lifeguard schedules, Red Cross certifications, YMCA swim lessons, competitive swim teams, water aerobics, etc. S/he assists in the development and oversight of the budget. S/he recruits, trains, and develops aquatics staff. S/he oversees program operations at the Princeton YMCA and any offsite programming related to aquatics. S/he ensures proper care and use of assets, that the pool is maintained, records are accurate, quality checks are conducted regularly, and all class schedules are comprehensive enough to serve the majority of the membership. S/he successfully promotes and markets programs, special initiatives and events. S/he follows and enforces safety standards and other policies and procedures. S/he participates as member of the Leadership Team and the YMCA Annual Campaign. Responsibilities
Manage and operate Princeton YMCA’s aquatics programs including pool and lifeguard schedules, Red Cross certifications, YMCA swim lessons, competitive swim teams, and water aerobics. Assist in the development and oversight of the budget. Recruit, train, and develop aquatics staff. Oversee program operations at the Princeton YMCA and any offsite aquatics programming. Ensure proper care and use of assets, pool maintenance, accurate records, quality checks, and comprehensive class schedules. Promote and market programs, special initiatives and events. Follow and enforce safety standards and other policies and procedures. Participate as a member of the Leadership Team and the YMCA Annual Campaign. Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing an aquatics facility including staff supervision. Bachelor’s Degree in physical education, recreation, or related field or equivalent experience. Experience in and ability to direct aquatics programming through supervision of staff and volunteers, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising experience. Strong organizational, leadership, administrative, and computer skills including solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel. Proven communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong human relations skills. Strong knowledge of budgeting and expense control. Ability to work nights and weekends as required. Current Lifeguard Certification, Lifeguard Instructor certification a plus. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or Y POOL certification. Knowledge of NJ Bathing Code. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
