What we need The Senior Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams—including design, engineering, supply chain, finance, installation, commissioning, operations, suppliers, and customers—delivering large-scale automation solutions at client sites. This highly visible role ensures alignment, on-time delivery, and early risk identification and management. Success depends on crisp, proactive communication and the ability to unite diverse groups to drive a common outcome. You will work directly with customers and Symbotic’s executive leadership and may mentor other project managers. Remote, travel-based position For this remote role, we are looking for someone in the Eastern or Central time zone to ensure sufficient on-site collaboration with current team members in Grove City, Ohio. You will travel to this site location initially, with future projects expected to be in the Midwest. What we do The Project Execution team oversees projects from planning to system acceptance, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to budget, and high-quality outcomes. We act as the central connection between technical teams, stakeholders, and customers to create clarity, drive accountability, and deliver measurable value. Responsibilities
Ownership of project delivery, ensuring scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives are consistently achieved. Lead cross-functional teams through the execution phase—from early site preparation and coordination to final system acceptance—while maintaining focus on project goals. Partner with engineering, supply chain, quality, installation, and commissioning leaders to coordinate timelines and ensure rapid, high-quality system delivery. Proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities to deliver projects on time and within budget. Champion continuous improvement by refining processes, standards, and communications to improve efficiency and team collaboration. Facilitate cross-functional meetings and provide clear, consistent updates to internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on track. Foster a culture of transparency, timely decision-making, and strong partnerships across all project participants. Qualifications
Remote, travel-based position. For this remote role, we’re looking for someone in the Eastern or Central time zone to ensure sufficient on-site collaboration with current team members in Grove City, Ohio. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing large automation, material handling, or construction projects. Proven expertise in scheduling, scope, cost, and risk management for complex technical projects. Background in robotic automation, AS/RS, or material handling strongly preferred. Experience managing design/build, installation, and construction projects. Skilled at stakeholder management across executives, clients, contractors, and engineering teams. Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Strong problem-solving under pressure and ability to implement creative solutions. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to balance competing priorities. Proficient with scheduling software, earned value management, and data-driven performance tracking (Smartsheet / Jira). Ability to provide technical insight and facilitate informed design and process discussions. Willingness to travel up to 60%. Environment
Up to 60% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and submitting expenses for bi-weekly reimbursement. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will perform work at customer installation locations for extended periods where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning. Employee is routinely required to work at heights up to 45 feet and in restrictive spaces; ability to stand, climb or balance, and crouch, kneel, or crawl as needed. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including lockout/tagout and fall protection. Approximately 75% of site time will be spent on construction sites with PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, eyewear, ear protection, fall protection).
