What this job involves As Chief Engineer at JLL, you'll serve as the technical cornerstone for our property management operations, leading comprehensive engineering strategies that deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients. In this role, you'll oversee all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and tenant satisfaction. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams locally and across the globe, embodying our culture of collaboration while driving innovative solutions that set new industry standards. This position requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on expertise, as you'll be responsible for developing preventive maintenance programs, managing capital improvement projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive engineering strategies and preventive maintenance programs across assigned properties
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering an environment where everyone is empowered to thrive
Manage capital improvement projects from conception through completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and quality standards
Conduct regular property inspections and system assessments to identify optimization opportunities and potential issues
Collaborate with property managers, vendors, and contractors to deliver seamless building operations and tenant experiences
Analyze energy consumption data and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impact
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, safety codes, and industry best practices
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in commercial property engineering or facilities management
Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems
Strong project management skills with experience managing multi-million dollar capital improvement projects
Excellent leadership and team development capabilities
Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation platforms
Experience with GxP and understanding the importance of proper documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with smart building technologies and IoT integration
Knowledge of local building codes and regulatory requirements
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget development and cost control
Previous experience in commercial real estate or property management industry
Location San Diego, CA
Shift Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 3:30 PM, OT as needed + on-call responsibilities
Compensation Estimated compensation for this position: 90,000.00 – 130,000.00 USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
