Our family of engines powers the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. The position is open to be filled in our Kent, WA location.
As part of a team of specialists, you’ll contribute to Blue Origin’s data strategy and help design, test, and deploy standard processes for teams working on advanced data science problems. This role focuses on driving emerging technology and data practices to the business, specifically within the domain of generative AI applications. You will apply your technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Key Responsibilities
Work with Engine's AI Strategist to drive end-to-end project lifecycle for generative AI applications: develop relationships with customers, and collaborate with developers and business partners across the enterprise.
Develop and implement machine learning, AI, and computer vision solutions using real-world data to solve complex problems.
Own Physics-based Signal Processing Tool Development, Maintenance, and Support.
Write production code that implements NLP and LLM models and algorithms, ensuring high quality, scalability, and reliability.
Advocate and work with partners to align the AI strategy for AI/ML adoption.
Research, identify, assess, and validate emerging technologies to increase the team’s ML and AI capabilities.
Own the data science, AI/ML strategy for Engines.
Partner with stakeholders to deliver Data Science products and collaborate with customers to understand business problems and explain technical solutions.
Work in an agile environment to deliver fast-paced solutions that meet the needs of the business.
Maintain technical responsibility, aid colleagues, and resolve technical issues through collaboration.
Qualifications
BA/BS in computer science, information science, data science, or a related field with 8+ years of experience; 5+ years in data science, or 3+ years hands-on experience with computer vision models.
Proven proficiency with Python, Spark, common data science libraries, and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow, OpenCV).
Experience with AWS services (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock, EMR, S3, Step Functions, Lambda, EC2, Redshift, Glue, Batch, Elasticsearch).
Solid understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques; experience with supervised, unsupervised, generative, semi-supervised, self-supervised modeling approaches.
Ability to deploy solutions using tools such as GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, and familiarity with visualization tools like Plotly/Dash, Javascript/D3/Go.js, and Streamlit. Comfortable working with both structured and unstructured data; experience with SQL, REST APIs, and custom scripting.
Effective communicator capable of engaging and building trust with senior executives.
Desired Qualifications
Masters or PhD in CS, Physics, Math, Engineering, or other STEM fields.
Experience productizing vision-based models, time-series big-data processing, and applying advanced ML algorithms for anomaly detection.
Familiarity with large language models (LLM), pre-training/fine-tuning techniques, and the open-source community (e.g., HuggingFace, StableDiffusion).
Expertise in model selection, hyper-parameter tuning, explainability techniques in deep learning models.
Experience with fastapi/flask for model deployment and building visualizations.
Track record of innovative literature research to develop novel Data Science applications.
Experience with network/graph analysis, crafting visualizations, and optimization modeling with Gurobi (LP/IP).
Compensation Base pay range: $137,049.00/yr - $191,868.59/yr
