Associate Director, Patient Services Operations
— Foster City Mirum Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the treatment of rare diseases. This role will manage day-to-day hub operations for the in-house Mirum Access Plus (MAP) program, supporting Mirum’s product portfolio and future expansion. The Associate Director will support the Director, Patient Services Operations, lead the day-to-day operations of the team, monitor KPIs, resolve operational challenges, ensure timely reporting, manage program budgets, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance requirements. The role requires regular collaboration with brand teams and internal functions such as finance, legal, safety, quality, and training.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Lead a team responsible for specialty pharmacy access, reimbursement, and affordability activities. Include day-to-day activities, work queues, delegation, skills development, goal setting, motivation, and alignment of team goals with overall organizational strategy. Program Operations:
Ensure operations run smoothly according to program rules and safety, legal, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and partner vendors to update business rules. Track and meet or exceed program KPIs (e.g., call volumes, wait times, benefits investigation turnaround).
Vendor Management:
Serve as liaison between Mirum and MAP service vendors; anticipate challenges and adapt processes to improve the MAP program. Reporting:
Ensure on-time, accurate MAP data reporting via data feeds; develop and distribute regular summaries; support ad hoc reporting with the Commercial Insights & Analytics (CIA) team. Pharmacovigilance (PV):
Collaborate with PV vendor and Mirum drug safety team to ensure AEs and product complaints are reported per guidelines; coordinate data requests and audits as needed. Co-pay Program:
Oversee MAP co-pay operations, enrollment, terms and conditions, liaison with the co-pay vendor, timely reporting of KPIs, and collaboration with brand teams on offers. Budgeting:
Support budgeting and forecasting; alert Director to potential overages. Patient Access Support/Field Reimbursement Managers:
Maintain open communication between PAS and MAP teams as appropriate. New Programs:
Support launches, assist with RFPs, and contribute to strategic planning for MAP offerings and requirements for new programs. Qualifications
Education/Experience: 7+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or experience with a Hub service provider or in-house hub. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with pharmacy benefits Experience with reimbursement support services and hubs Understanding of legal/regulatory/safety requirements for hubs Familiarity with patient assistance programs Understanding of coding for claims reimbursement Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results Ability to complete projects on time and within budget Anticipate and address challenges to ensure smooth hub operations Problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong business acumen Compensation
The salary range for this position is $186,000 to $200,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on factors including skill set, years of experience, and geographic location.
