Overview Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation). You will fill a program/system level role within the Directorate of Engineering of a large program with multiple IPTs/segments, using MOD/SIM experience to analyze and drive technical performance of a large-scale, complex system with mature and emerging technologies.

What You’ll Get To Do

Perform system performance analysis and system-level modeling, based on lower-level component/segment models from other teams.

Model interactions (electrical, mechanical, thermal, digital, etc.) among lower-level models to analyze performance.

Analyze simulations in support of performance and effectiveness; report on performance metrics.

Use MODSIM tools like MATLAB and COMSOL to interface with lower-level models and simulations from tools such as NX, Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, and others.

Collaborate cross-functionally to support Segment architecture and CONOPS, perform trade studies and analysis, and support verification planning.

Assist with preparation of design and engineering materials during major reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR) as needed.

Location note : This position is on-site in the greater Baltimore, MD area or Redondo Beach, CA.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications — Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with at least 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s; or 1 year with PhD.

Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes.

Ability to apply MODSIM expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks.

Expertise with Modeling & Simulation tools such as Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, FlexSim.

Demonstrated MBSE experience including defining analysis with parametric diagrams and capturing system configurations and performance values.

U.S. citizen required.

Current active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI w. Polygraph prior to start.

Basic Qualifications — Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s; or 4 years with PhD.

Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes.

Ability to apply MODSIM expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks.

Expertise with Modeling & Simulation tools such as Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, FlexSim.

Demonstrated MBSE experience including defining analysis with parametric diagrams and capturing system configurations and performance values.

U.S. citizen required.

Current active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI w. Polygraph prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Certificate or advanced degree in Systems Engineering.

Certificate in SysML and/or DODAF.

Ability to create flexible, robust models of complex systems with traceability to evolving requirements.

Cross-functional communication across Software, Hardware, and Electrical engineering.

DOORS experience including automation (DXL) and generating DODAF views.

Experience generating reports in Cameo with VTL.

Experience with OMG schemas such as the UML Testing Profile.

Experience modeling cyber-physical (hardware & software) solutions.

Familiarity with project and task management tools (Jira or Confluence).

Familiarity with MODSIM tools such as MATLAB or COMSOL; Visual Studio, Python; Elasticsearch, Grafana, Tableau; Cadence Virtuoso, Keysight ADWS, ANSYS HFSS.

Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $206,000.00

Offers may include overtime, shift differential, bonuses, and long-term incentives where applicable.
