Overview

Zanda is hiring an Assistant Controller for a high-growth Series B fintech firm operating at the intersection of crypto and blockchain. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will be integral to the accounting and finance functions, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, management reporting, and the annual audit. Key Responsibilities

Lead financial reporting, month-end close, and audit processes. Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial insights. Maintain high standards of financial integrity and compliance. A Day in the Life of an Assistant Controller

Accounting: Run a timely, accurate and efficient monthly accounting close process including review of journal entries and operating results required to ensure the accuracy of monthly financial records. Responsible for annual financial statement audit, including preparation of all supporting documentation and interaction with external auditors. Identify and lead initiatives to enhance processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department’s financial close and reporting cycles. Enhance the accounting department’s use of relevant software and the integration of software into accounting processes and procedures. Ensure successful calculation and completion of the company’s tax filings, working with external tax consultants. Ensure that company financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP/CECL policies for external audit. FP&A: Assist in the annual operating budget process, track and report on performance relative to plan, and manage ongoing rolling forecasts. Oversee the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reporting packages including variance analysis. Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statements, forecasts, etc.) and present to the executive team. Establish and monitor KPI’s relevant to a lending business. Assist in the preparation of materials for Board of Director meetings. Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance. Collaborate with VP on unit economics analysis and monitoring of cost efficiencies. Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Qualifications

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other business-related fields CPA Required 6-8 years across financial domain including relevant management experience Lending business experience is mandatory Demonstrated leadership experience, managing and training small teams is a plus Proficiency in GAAP, accounting and revenue recognition is a plus Strong analytical, financial modeling and reporting skills Stellar analytical aptitude and an intellectual curiosity to uncover patterns and trends Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close process Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial and accounting software Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills What they offer
