The Solutions Engineer (SE) is a sales and technical role focused on customers/partners and is part of the sales organization. The SE’s primary responsibility is to support the sales team with technical skills and provide technical knowledge around F5 solutions. To be effective, an SE needs to have excellent technical skills and knowledge on both F5 products and the ecosystem we work in. Training and certification are provided to keep you up to date with these critical skills. The high-level objective is to achieve the allocated sales target and sell relevant F5 solutions and products to our customers’ business needs, in partnership with the Sales Account Manager. From the customer’s perspective, the SE is a trusted adviser who understands their technical and business challenges and proposes effective solutions. Articulate the F5 product strategy, messaging, and positioning of F5’s value proposition and solutions for customer business objectives Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, demonstrations, and proofs of concept via various mediums Determine viability of opportunity and map out organizational structure Drive the sales process in partnership with the Account Manager by identifying the Technical Decision Maker, obtaining their technical validation, support, and sponsorship Consistently provide world-class customer service throughout the customer lifecycle Collaborate with internal technical and sales resources, share best practices, provide updates, and seek expertise as needed How you’ll do it
Experience with network infrastructure technologies, data center/cloud architectures, and how components interact across the OSI model Understanding of Web Protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, HTTP/2) and transport layer encryption technologies (TLS, SSL) Experience with automation and orchestration Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP cloud environments and deployment templates preferred Experience with modern application development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD) and tooling a plus Experience with modern application platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.) a plus Experience with Terraform or Ansible a plus Experience with REST APIs, both imperative and declarative, preferred Experience with programming and scripting languages (TCL, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, etc.) a plus Experience with one or more of the following areas: L4/L7 Denial of Service threats, application security trends, authentication/authorization technologies, automated threat detection and mitigation, and API security concepts What you’ll bring
5+ years of related industry experience Familiarity/experience with F5 or similar industry solution deployment a plus Relevant certifications a plus What you’ll get
