Chief Supply Chain Officer / Chief Operating Officer We are currently engaged on a confidential retained search with a multinational pharmaceutical company (10,000+ employees, global presence across North America, EMEA, and APAC) seeking a seasoned

Vice President of Global Procurement . This is a strategic leadership role overseeing all aspects of

Direct and Indirect Procurement , with enterprise-wide impact across manufacturing, R&D, commercial, and corporate functions. This position is ideal for a commercially focused procurement executive who thrives in

complex, matrixed environments , brings strong global leadership capability, and is ready to drive transformation across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the global procurement function across

Direct and Indirect categories , overseeing a

spend portfolio of $1B+ Define and execute a

comprehensive global sourcing strategy

aligned with corporate objectives across: Direct Procurement:

APIs, raw materials, packaging, contract manufacturing (CMOs/CDMOs), lab supplies Indirect Procurement:

Facilities, engineering, IT, HR services, CAPEX, marketing, and professional services Develop and execute a

supplier relationship management (SRM) program , ensuring performance, risk mitigation, and innovation Drive

strategic cost savings initiatives , contract negotiations, and supply continuity across all business units Partner cross-functionally with

Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Finance, Legal, and IT

to support critical business priorities Lead a

global team of senior procurement leaders

across regional and category-specific roles Implement and enhance procurement tools, policies, and processes (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa) to support scalability and compliance Monitor market trends, supply risk, ESG goals, and regulatory changes to adapt sourcing strategies accordingly Provide regular updates to C-suite on procurement performance, risks, and opportunities Ideal Candidate Profile

15+ years of progressive experience in

procurement and strategic sourcing , with at least 5 years in an executive leadership role Deep experience managing

both direct and indirect spend

in a

global pharmaceutical or life sciences organization Proven ability to drive

procurement transformation , operational efficiency, and value delivery in complex global environments Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities in

matrixed organizations

with multiple global sites Demonstrated experience with

GxP environments , regulatory compliance, and quality-driven sourcing practices Technologically fluent in major procurement platforms (e.g.,

SAP Ariba, Coupa ) and data-driven decision making Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred) Ability to travel internationally as required (10–20%)
