About the Mental Health Clinician role: Mental Health Clinician - Purpose

Under clinical supervision, the Mental Health Clinician provides assessment and diagnosis to clients with dual diagnosis, offers individual, group, and family psychotherapy, prepares individual service and coordination plans, documents clinical outcomes, and acts as an advocate. Mental Health Clinician - Principal Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are essential functions of the position: Provides individual, group, and family therapy to persons with developmental disabilities diagnosed with severe mental illness. Utilizes professional education and training to diagnose and treat clients’ mental illnesses. Provides psychotherapy to empower clients to identify and manage their psychiatric symptoms, enabling them to function maximally in the community. Constantly assesses clients for potential harm to self, harm to others, or victimization, and takes appropriate safety measures, including initiating involuntary hospitalizations when necessary. Provides 24-hour on-call crisis intervention. Uses professional training and credentials to advocate for clients with other agencies and educates those agencies on recognizing and addressing the needs of clients with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. Develops relapse prevention strategies with clients and support systems to prevent future hospitalizations and community placement loss. Participates as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet clients’ psychiatric and psychological needs. Attends training regularly to update skills and maintain licensure. Maintains accurate treatment records and documentation. Performs other duties as assigned to ensure program efficiency. Mental Health Clinician - Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral program (MSW, MFT, PhD) eligible for licensure to provide psychotherapy by relevant boards. Qualifications of the Licensed Mental Health Clinician:

Possesses current licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist and has experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. All licensed clinicians must be Medicare credentialed upon hire or licensure. Mental Health Clinician - Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to observe, evaluate, document, and communicate effectively. Ability to accept supervision and work cooperatively as part of a team. Knowledge of disabilities and the biological, psychological, and social models. Critical thinking, organizational, record-keeping skills, and independent judgment. Knowledge of psychotherapy and understanding of multidisciplinary team and family dynamics. Flexibility with scheduling and task prioritization. The work environment is primarily an office setting, with long periods of sitting, computer use, occasional outdoor exposure, and travel to satellite locations.
