Team Description
The Fraud Data Science team builds machine learning models that help protect customers and Capital One against fraudsters. We prevent fraud at many steps of the customer journey, from application to spending and payments, using real-time models. We care about doing things the right way, automating, and innovating to improve the customer experience and prevent fraud. Role Description
In this role, you will: Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love Leverage a broad stack of technologies (Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more) to reveal insights within large volumes of numeric and textual data Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals The Ideal Candidate is

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with the degree obtained on or before the start date:
Bachelor’s
in a quantitative field + 6 years of data analytics OR
Master’s
in a quantitative field or MBA with quantitative concentration + 4 years of data analytics OR
PhD
in a quantitative field + 1 year of data analytics At least 1 year of experience leveraging open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis At least 1 year of experience working with machine learning At least 1 year of experience utilizing relational databases Preferred Qualifications
PhD in STEM field with 3 years of data analytics experience At least 1 year of AWS experience At least 4 years of Python, Scala, or R for large-scale data analysis At least 4 years of experience with machine learning At least 4 years of experience with SQL Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. Chicago, IL: $175,800 - $200,700 for Mgr, Data Science McLean, VA: $193,400 - $220,700 for Mgr, Data Science New York, NY: $211,000 - $240,800 for Mgr, Data Science Richmond, VA: $175,800 - $200,700 for Mgr, Data Science Candidates hired in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location; the offer letter will reflect the actual salary. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI), discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
