Fixed Income Trader & Strategist, MML Investor Services Full-Time/ Hybrid, Boston, New York City or Springfield The Role
The Fixed Income Trader & Strategist will join the Fixed Income team as a Municipal Bond Trading specialist. This role supports the implementation of fixed income strategies across municipal, corporate, and structured products for MML Investor Advisors and the MML Investors Wealth Management team. As the Fixed Income Trader & Strategist, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support MML Investor Services field advisors by providing fixed income expertise and coaching on trading platforms. Construct fixed income ladders and portfolios.
Buy and sell bonds for client portfolios, with primary focus on municipal bonds, and attention to US Treasury, agency securities, and corporate bonds.
Drive portfolio strategy by contributing to portfolio implementation, strategy development, and process improvement.
Support internal investment management teams with fixed income portfolio construction for client advisory accounts and SMAs.
Monitor existing bond portfolios, focusing on cash flows, maturity planning, and credit monitoring.
Create, run, and interpret analyses for clients and relationship managers.
Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal stakeholders, advisors, and clients.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control policies, with emphasis on best execution analysis and trade reporting (TRACE, RTRS).
Administer trade corrections and fixed income trades for back-office support.
Contribute to continuous improvement of investment processes and tools; stay informed on technologies and research in fixed income.
Develop understanding of MML Investors product shelf and trading rules for each product line.
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
FINRA Series 7 at time of application
FINRA Series 24 at time of application or must obtain within 6 months of hire
FINRA Series 53 at time of application or must obtain within 9 months of hire
7+ years of fixed income trading experience
5+ years of municipal bond trading experience
The Ideal Qualifications
Strong appreciation of client service; ability to work in a team and provide high-quality service
Effective presentation skills to audiences with diverse investment backgrounds
Experience with Bloomberg, Alternative Trading Systems, Bond Beacon, and the NFS custodial platform
BA/CFA or progress toward MBA/CFA
Strong intellectual curiosity
Strong leadership and collaborative problem-solving skills
