Overview
The World Bank Group (WBG) opened its application in September for the Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP) 2026. The WBG YPP is a golden opportunity for an exciting career at the World Bank, recruiting Young Professionals with several academic and professional backgrounds. The applicants’ experience should be relevant to the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) objectives and scope of work. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of WBG member countries and countries of operation. Applicants who demonstrate a passion for graduate education, a commitment to international development, relevant professional experience, and the potential to grow into impactful leadership roles across institutions are welcome to apply. The WBG YPP is a consolidated and joint program of the World Bank and the IFC that recruits on behalf of three institutions: the World Bank, the IFC, and MIGA. The program aims to develop future leaders who can collaborate effectively across institutions to create joint WBG solutions to development challenges.

WBG YPP Overview The YPP is a two-year leadership development program that initiates a five-year employment contract with the World Bank, IFC, or MIGA. Young Professionals begin the YPP in Washington, DC, engaging in intensive training that includes both on-the-job and classroom studies. The participants start learning the fundamentals of leadership and development activities across institutions, as well as how to identify opportunities for collective impact.

Benefits and Compensation of WBG YPP Young Professionals participating in the WB YPP will benefit as follows:
Competitive salary as part of a 5-year term contract
A benefits package including health, life, and accident insurance, plus a pension plan and possibly relocation and mobility
Eligibility Criteria Young Professionals worldwide can apply, but preference is given to natives of WBG member countries and operational countries. To be eligible for the YPP WBG, applicants should meet the following requirements:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with 2–6 years of professional experience.
Must hold nationality of a World Bank Group member country (verified by passport or equivalent document).
Completion of a relevant master’s degree (or higher) before September 1, 2026; doctoral research may count as work experience if substantially complete by that date.
Excellent spoken and written English (other languages are an asset).
Not a World Bank Group staff member and not restricted by employment eligibility policy at the time of application.
Cannot hold an ET or ST contract with the Bank.
Eligible if currently a JPA or former Bank intern, provided the internship ends on or before September 30, 2025.

CV/Resume (ideally 1 page, maximum two pages)
Passport photo page (to confirm birth date and primary nationality)
Transcript(s) or enrollment letter(s) (to confirm postgraduate degrees and expected completion dates)

Apply Now Interview and Selection Criteria YPP interviews will be in a hybrid format (virtual and in-person) and may include the following components:
Pre-recorded interview (on HireVue)
Live panel interview
An assessment center where you will participate in individual and Group exercises
Timed computer-based financial tests (IFC candidates)
Applicants who receive an invitation to interview will get more details as the process progresses.
The selection committee will assess candidates based on their experience, technical expertise, and competencies, including client orientation, leadership, and communication.
