In the Department of Radiation Oncology, the advanced practice provider (APP) can expect to work collaboratively with radiation oncology physicians and practice independently within the Cancer Centers. Primary role:

Supporting follow-up services for sarcoma radiation oncology patients, providing expert supportive care during treatment and post-treatment visits. While the APP can expect a predictable work schedule, variations may occur to meet clinical needs. Responsibilities: Act as secondary APP for pediatric radiation oncology, providing supportive care during treatment and follow-up. Assist patients and families through radiation therapy from consultation to treatment readiness and completion. Manage supportive care and urgent patient needs during and shortly after treatment, reporting to supervising physicians. Review and manage patient communications via EPIC In-Basket. Prescribe medications pre- and post-treatment following physician consultation and instruct patients/families accordingly. Evaluate and care for patients concerning radiation therapy effects, reviewing cases with physicians as needed. Coordinate new patient education and assist with consultations. Support department operations via participation in the APP coverage model and clinic support. Maintain a strong foundation in evidence-based care and apply it to patient management. Assist with radiation delivery procedures as needed. Recognize urgent situations requiring physician attention and act accordingly. Qualifications: Licensed to care for pediatric patients.
