Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, but with independent responsibility for professional results the Physician provides primary healthcare services for Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. Bi-weekly salary range: $9,230.77 – 11,220.06 Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Secures and evaluates a patientG Unicode health history and records findings in a systematic, accurate and succinct manner. Performs a physical assessment and differentiates between normal and abnormal findings. Provides routine physical examinations, diagnostic services, and treatment of illnesses and emergencies. Adheres to the highest standards of medical ethics at all times and assures quality of care for all patients. Shares on-call duties, when indicated, with other members of the medical staff. Elicits and records information about the patient's medical history. Examines patients to determine general physical condition. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on the patientG Unicode s condition. Analyzes reports and findings to diagnose conditions. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs; inoculates and vaccinates patients as appropriate. Advises patients on diet, hygiene, and prevention of disease. Reports births, deaths, and outbreaks to governmental authorities; refers patients to specialists for specialized treatment. Conducts physical examinations for school admission, employment considerations, or insurance eligibility. Assists the Chief Medical Officer in establishing and evaluating medical policies, developing changes, and educating patients and staff. Shares supervisory responsibilities of the nurse practitioner with the Clinical Director as required. Works within privileges and protocols as established by the Chief Medical Officer; participates in committees as requested. Adheres to safety policies, infection control, and patient safety standards. Provides age-appropriate care for patients across the lifespan (infants to geriatrics) and demonstrates knowledge of domestic violence and abuse protocols. Maintains HIPAA and confidential communications; participates in population management with cultural consideration and local resources. Participates in care coordination by following up post-hospital discharge and scheduling follow-up appointments in a timely manner; gathers data from recent hospital admissions to facilitate follow up. Develops self-management support by building relationships with high-risk clients and referring to RN when clinical judgment requires. Collaborates with the care team (PCP, RN, Health Educator, LCSW, Director of Nursing, and/or Chief Medical Officer) to arrange appropriate services to meet patient goals. Engages in quality improvement activities, including meetings, data collection, and charge auditing; uses Evidence-Based Practice guidelines for disease management. Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise mid-level providers at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer. Qualifications
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor Degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school. Completion of a residency in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN or Pediatrics is required. Board Certification or board eligibility is required. Maintains current knowledge through continuing medical education and participation in local and national medical societies. Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; bilingual English/Spanish ability desirable. Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability
Authoritative knowledge of family-centered medicine; ability to apply logical and scientific thinking to problems. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current, unrestricted Physician and Surgeon license from the Medical Board of California. Board Certified/Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics. Current DEA license. ACLS for FP/IM and PALS for PEDS; BLS-C for all specialties. Annual health examination, TB skin test clearance or biannual chest x-ray, and up-to-date immunizations for healthcare workers at hire and annually thereafter. Physical Demands
Regular use of hands; ability to stand, walk, and sit; occasional lifting up to 30 pounds; vision requirements include various visual capabilities. Work Environment
Flexible work schedule may include late evenings and weekends; must be willing to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
