Seasonings and Sauces Innovations – Senior Food Technologist. Reporting to the Innovation Sr. Director, Private Label Spices and Sauces, the Senior Food Technologist will manage innovation development projects and initiatives for Global Ingredients Company Food Ingredients (Global Ingredients Company). This role works with innovation leadership to drive global strategy and deliver value-generating innovation solutions. The position collaborates with manufacturing plants to provide technical leadership and problem-solving capabilities, and works with customers to provide solutions that meet internal and external needs. The Sr. Food Technologist analyzes food, ingredients, raw and finished goods, interprets results, writes reports, and communicates challenges and opportunities for their category to innovation leadership, key stakeholders, and senior management on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a Food Technologist focusing on spice blends and seasonings and thermally processed sauces, with the ability to lead key projects and work independently to meet deadlines. The candidate should manage multiple competing demands and workload effectively. Position Responsibilities
Manage innovation projects, communicate, and coordinate with internal stakeholders as well as customers. Maintain a thorough understanding of current food and ingredient trends across all business channels, with focus on private label, sauces, and spice blends. Expertise in the development of spice blends, seasoning, and/or thermally processed sauces. Provide information to internal stakeholders to drive business strategy and deliver value-generating innovative solutions. Prepare responses to customer inquiries with adequate scientific and technical evidence and provide solutions. Verify the implementation of standard operating procedures for laboratory or kitchen facilities. Provide expertise in developing new innovative products and solutions within focused categories, internally and with customers. Visit customers as required to resolve technical challenges arising from Global Ingredients Company ingredients. Maintain accurate records of formulations, procedures, and processes in appropriate software systems and platforms. Support Operations, Quality, and Procurement in processing and commercializing new innovations. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Microbiology, Food Chemistry, or related field is required.
Master’s degree is preferred . Eight (8) years of relevant work experience in product development and food analysis related to red sauces and related consumer products is required. Spice blending preferred. Understanding of basic food processing and analytical techniques in chemical and microbiological analysis is required. Experience leading/managing teams is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with SAP is preferred. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams and geographies, and with internal and external customers; proven ability to interact with department, company, or customer associates in a team-oriented environment. Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time across North America. Experience with SAP is preferred.
