General Manager I - Denver International Airport AO1111

Purpose:

The purpose of the General Manager I (GM) position is to manage a QSR restaurant or small cluster of restaurants or points-of-sale in close proximity to each other with Sales of generally up to $5M. The GM ensures the restaurant is clean, staffed, open for business, and operates to high operational and financial standards. The GM uses broad discretion and judgement to make great leadership decisions, and is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant.

Essential Functions

Open and Close

Ensures all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing the restaurant to prepare for opening, and holds Shift Managers accountable for executing closing and opening checklist requirements

Staffing/Deployment: Understands, adopts, and demonstrates manager behaviors designed to create an environment where employee engagement thrives; deploys staff and resources to maximize profitability and accepts P&L responsibility; assigns work tasks, prepares schedules, and ensures shifts are covered

Provides restaurant staff with consistent support, coaching and encouragement to achieve business goals

Interviews job candidates, makes hiring, termination, advancement, promotion or other status decisions; promotes HMSHost as an employer of choice

Ensures diversity and inclusion philosophy is understood and executed

On-boarding and off-boarding of associates, including badging, orientation, OJT, and company training/processes

Reads and understands financial and operational data to monitor progress toward unit goals

Recognizes staff contributions and supports recognition initiatives

Adopts and champions Employee Engagement behaviors

Ensures current contact information for all associates

Product Availability/Working Equipment: Ensures daily orders, appropriate stock levels, and trains associates on ordering procedures

Oversees receiving, invoice processing, and vendor communications for supply issues

Maintains proficiency in management information systems and tools

Monitors and maintains restaurant equipment and schedules maintenance

Participates in audits and minimizes waste

Brand Knowledge/Proficiency: Assesses skill levels, coordinates training, embraces new technologies, and maintains knowledge of brand standards and procedures

Develops and implements strategies to increase revenue

Visual/Vibe/Appeal: Manages day-to-day activities of associates within defined units

Uses judgment to resolve customer and associate questions; refers complex issues to senior leaders when needed

Provides ongoing feedback aligned with development and business goals

Implements marketing programs as directed; supports AB programming and related promotions

Safety: Maintains understanding of all sanitary, safety, and health standards; ensures compliance and trains managers on wellness and health obligations

Understands and performs Health and Safety activities as specified in policies

Reporting relationship and other important information: The GMI reports to the Director of Operations or a regional leader; works a varied and rotating schedule including opening and closing shifts

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment

Experience managing QSR, casual dine, full-service or similar restaurants with P&L responsibility; typically 3+ years of P&L management and 5–7 years of operating restaurant experience in related formats

Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for part of the experience requirement

Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills; ability to manage multiple priorities

Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, service standards, and operations; able to demonstrate this knowledge within a reasonable time from hire

Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, policies, and menus; converse comfortably with individuals

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive pay within the range of $48,362 - $72,543
