Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a board-certified Epileptologist to join the Department of Neurology. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience. The division focuses on acute, chronic, and tertiary care of epilepsy, EEG interpretation, electrocorticography, evaluation for epilepsy surgery (including stereo EEG), intra- and extraoperative functional brain mapping, and neurostimulation (VNS/RNS/DBS) in implantable devices and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit management. Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. equivalent degree and be board-eligible or certified in Neurology and Epilepsy. There is dedicated clinical/administrative and nursing support. Position Details

The Epilepsy Center at OSUWMC provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services for adults with seizures, including outpatient clinics, EEG, EMU, and continuous video EEG monitoring. Subspecialty clinics include functional seizures, Neurostimulation, women’s epilepsy, and an epilepsy surgery clinic. A new 8- to 10-bed adult EMU is slated to open next year. Patients may be evaluated with PET and functional MRI. The division is NAEC level 4 accredited, and the center supports advanced presurgical evaluations and treatment options for drug-resistant epilepsy. Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees at all levels in clinical neurology and epileptology. Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient epilepsy clinics, EEG/ICU reading, and EMU service. Requirements

Expertise in acute, chronic, and tertiary care of epilepsy patients, EEG interpretation, electrocorticography, and evaluation for epilepsy surgery (including stereo EEG and intra- and extraoperative brain mapping) and neurostimulation, in both implantable devices and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit management.
