Lakehill Preparatory School seeks a Head of Middle and Upper School for the 2026-2027 school year. A new role in our administrative structure, Lakehill seeks a dynamic and visionary leader. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this leader will guide grades 6-12, building on the close-knit positive culture in place to inspire academic excellence through student-centered learning. Deep, meaningful relationships stand at the heart of all we do, and this leader will inspire innovative teaching and learning practices, cultivate a vibrant and inclusive culture, and partner with families toward holistic support and seeing every student thrive.
Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:
The ability to build deep, meaningful relationships with students, faculty and families.
Be a clear, consistent communicator who develops and builds upon existing systems to help students, faculty and families do their best work.
Lead efforts and partner around recruitment and retention of both faculty and students alike.
Champion the identity of Lakehill, guiding our program through the central tenets of our mission: Learning with Curiosity, Leading with Confidence, and Serving with Compassion.
Demonstrate an ability to be both relational, accessible, and firm with students and faculty alike.
Makes difficult decisions with confidence and courage, balancing the needs of both the institution and the child.
Understand the development needs of children at these important stages, having the range to be able to guide and connect with students of a wide variety of ages
Possesses the ability to collaborate as part of the administrative team and bring fresh ideas to enhance the school’s program through the lens of the school’s mission.
A commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
Attention to detail, follow-through, and organization, and a genuine enthusiasm, positive presence, and flexibility.
A commitment to Lakehill’s vision of learning with curiosity, leading with confidence, and service with compassion through actively improving one’s craft and growing professionally, serving as a role model for our students.
Preferred qualifications include
Teaching and/or administrative experience at the Middle and Upper School levels. Ideal candidates will have experience working with students in some capacity at both levels.
A master’s degree in education or a related field
Experience working in independent school settings for at least five years.
Key Responsibilities include:
In collaboration with team members, including Department Chairs, engage with understanding and developing the scope and sequence of curricular programming
Implementation of faculty growth and evaluation processes
Assist with the ISAS re-accreditation processes upcoming
Communicate regularly with the middle school and upper school parent communities to inform, educate, and partner
Collaborate with the Admissions Office to support programming for prospective middle school and upper school families
Manage student behavior through a holistic, restorative approach that holds students accountable while providing opportunities to learn from mistakes
Uphold all school policies and procedures
