Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens) Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved medical school Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification, in an accredited program Enrolled residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and are appointed on an intermittent or fee basis Proficiency in spoken and written English Certification in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine DEA Waiver to Prescribe Buprenorphine Experience in treating Opioid Use Disorders Preferred: ABPN Addiction Board Certification Physical ability to perform all activities of the position Duties
This is an open continuous announcement; qualified applicants will be referred weekly. Provide healthcare services to veteran patients at Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Refer patients to ancillary services and document all care in the computerized patient record system (CPRS). Prescribe medications per facility formulary, with variance only when clinically indicated. Serve as treatment and consulting psychiatrist on the Pain Management Clinic Team. Complete administrative duties related to referrals and transfers, following VA policies. Provide psychiatric consultation to other services and perform all other assigned duties.
