Sachem Animal Hospital is seeking a Managing Veterinarian (MDVM) to lead our 4-doctor team in beautiful Holbrook, NY. We are a high-quality, state-of-the-art veterinary practice with a long-standing reputation for excellence in the Suffolk County community.
Our brand-new, custom-designed facility opens this November, just 3 miles from our current location—featuring upgraded surgical suites, treatment areas, and more space for our growing team and services.

The MDVM Role:
As the Managing Veterinarian, you’ll balance clinical practice with leadership duties, partnering closely with the Hospital Manager and NVA support teams. You will play a key role in driving medical excellence, staff development, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
Clinical Leadership:
Oversee and guide all medical and surgical cases to ensure quality care and client communication
Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and technical staff
Uphold and establish medical protocols, standards, and continuing education
Ensure compliance with state and federal veterinary regulations
Team & Operations Management:
Partner with the Hospital Manager on daily operations, staff training, scheduling, and morale
Lead recruiting and performance evaluations for DVMs and contribute to hiring across the hospital
Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture
Create and implement hospital-specific client compliance initiatives
Financial & Strategic Oversight:
Co-manage hospital budget, capital improvements, and expense controls
Analyze performance metrics and proactively address opportunities for growth and improvement
Support marketing efforts, client service initiatives, and community involvement
What We’re Looking For:
DVM or VMD degree from an accredited university
Licensed (or eligible) to practice in New York
3+ years of clinical experience; previous leadership or mentorship experience is strongly preferred
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills
A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing people and processes
