Overview
Chief Information Security Officer – Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. The CISO will lead an enterprise-wide information security program protecting Dartmouth’s academic, research, and administrative operations. The CISO reports to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer and serves on the Information Technology and Consulting leadership team, with a dotted line to the Chief Compliance Officer. The CISO advises institutional leadership on risk posture, regulatory obligations, and acceptable risk thresholds, and will oversee a team of IT security professionals, directing the College's cybersecurity strategy and critical decisions on risk assessments, security protocols, and responses to emerging threats. The CISO will articulate cybersecurity priorities to institutional risk stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, as the voice of cybersecurity on campus. Responsibilities
Lead an enterprise-wide information security program and oversee the College's cybersecurity strategy, risk assessments, security protocols, and responses to emerging threats. Advise institutional leadership on risk posture, regulatory obligations, and acceptable risk thresholds. Manage and develop a team of IT security professionals and collaborate with stakeholders across the College to implement secure, compliant, and efficient security measures and processes. Communicate cybersecurity priorities clearly to risk stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, and act as the leading on-campus voice for cybersecurity. Foster collaboration across departments and with the research community to support goals and timelines while removing obstacles to efficiency and ensuring data security. Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practices, applying meaningful metrics to drive timely evaluations and values-based decisions. Stay vigilant against cybersecurity threats to protect the College’s digital landscape and information assets. Qualifications
Strategic thinker with the ability to build consensus, align people and processes, and communicate across diverse audiences. Experience in a decentralized research university environment with a proven record of ethical data governance and AI security in an academic or research setting. Experience securing cloud environments and implementing zero-trust models. Strong leadership and management skills, with a track record of effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
