Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety, Payments — Google
Responsibilities
Promote user trust and safety by managing and mitigating payment fraud and abuse for Google products and services.
Investigate fraud and abuse incidents, identify patterns and trends to develop holistic risk management solutions, and assess the risk of products and features.
Perform statistical analysis using payments and risk data; collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to create and enhance tools, develop signals, and improve system functionality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams globally; work with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to launch risk mitigation solutions.
Participate in on-call rotation to manage priority escalations outside standard hours, including weekends/holidays.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
1 year of experience in statistical problem solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or comparable coding language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).
Preferred qualifications
Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
1 year of experience in the Payments industry, working on risk or fraud management.
1 year of experience querying and analyzing data sets using SQL or similar programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++).
Knowledge in statistical analysis and machine learning libraries (e.g., R, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow); programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++); large language models (LLMs) or Generative AI.
Ability to optimize, automate, and scale processes by identifying workflow pain points.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a changing environment.
About the job Trust & Safety team members identify and tackle the biggest problems challenging the safety and integrity of Google products. They use technical know-how, problem-solving, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and partners from abuse across Google products. You’ll work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud at Google speed, with urgency. You’ll help promote trust in Google and ensure high levels of user safety.
You will be responsible for restricting or preventing fraudsters and abusers to ensure a safe and secure payments environment for users. You will identify and solve problems, and innovate and optimize processes and tools. You will also work with product and engineering teams to ensure new products and features provide a safe user experience.
From paying online with Autofill to tap-and-pay in stores or the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google focuses on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. The Payments team also powers money movement between Google and customers and businesses.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary ranges depend on role, level, and location; recruiter will share the specific range for your location during hiring. Compensation details listed reflect base salary only and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
