HDR is looking for a Structures Project Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Walnut Creek or Folsom, CA. This position supports a variety of markets including Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. The role involves coordinating with a multidisciplinary design team through all project phases—from planning to construction documents and construction administration. You will develop construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, and review shop drawings during construction. Experience in structural design and detailing of building-related projects is required. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, collaborative and possesses strong leadership skills with initiative to deliver high-quality structural engineering designs.
Responsibilities
Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures and materials, determine sizes, and perform necessary calculations Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through design development and contract document phases Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project sites with the Project Manager and other disciplines Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, respond to addenda, RFIs, change proposals, and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or BS in Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis A minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience SE license Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree Previous experience in general civil engineering Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location (e.g., PE or P.Eng) Demonstrated leadership and communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Good verbal and written communication skills Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture
