Overview
Job Title: Security System Administrator Responsibilities
Perform server maintenance, patching, and coordinate with software vendors to execute system updates and upgrades Conduct digital forensic investigations and vulnerability assessments Configure and monitor backup and disaster recovery systems (e.g., Veeam, Acronis) Manage network infrastructure including LAN/WAN devices, firewall systems, ACL deployment, port security, and application layer protection Monitor and manage end-point security systems, including antivirus and email security tools Troubleshoot and secure Office 365 Exchange accounts, including response to email threats and security alerts Provide technical guidance and escalation support to onsite Help Desk Technicians Configure and manage MDM solutions for smartphones, iPads, and tablets Assist in application deployment, testing, and product evaluations/recommendations Maintain strong documentation, follow change control processes, and work within public sector compliance standards Participate in on-site support during business hours; hybrid work may be allowed after 6 months of onsite familiarity with systems Security Requirements
Police Background Check: All personnel assigned to the role must be able to pass or be subject to a background check conducted by the City's Police Department. Familiarity With Tools
Microsoft Hyper-V, Active Directory, Group Policy Veeam / Acronis Backup Solutions Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365 Admin, Exchange Online Protection Zoho Patch Manager, Endpoint Security Platforms Cisco/Juniper Firewall & Security Appliances Certifications
MCSE or CISSP (Required) CompTIA Security+ (Preferred) Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate (Preferred) Required Skills/Experience
6+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise system security operations Experience in network security, incident response, and firewall management Familiarity with local government or critical infrastructure environments Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and compliance reporting skills Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience Seniority level
