Portfolio Compensation Partner
to join their People Practices team in
Menlo Park
or
San Francisco . This role involves supporting portfolio companies with compensation strategies, offering insights, and guiding them through complex compensation topics, including executive compensation, equity grants, and token mechanics. This role will also focus on
Crypto and Web3
portfolio companies. Key Responsibilities
Market Data Analysis : Stay updated on changes in compensation for broad-based and executive employees. Simplify complex compensation concepts like job leveling, role mapping, and data collection. Develop Dashboards & Tools : Create dynamic dashboards to represent current and longitudinal data trends. Trend Analysis : Analyze market data to provide insights into compensation issues faced by portfolio companies, especially in the competitive labor market. Compensation Strategy Development : Help create compensation strategies for portfolio companies, considering growth stage, company size, and market data. Crypto-Specific Initiatives : Design and lead crypto-specific compensation initiatives, providing actionable insights for portfolio companies to remain competitive in the evolving crypto talent market. Thought Leadership : Collaborate with the People Practices team to publish high-impact research on trends in crypto compensation and token mechanics. Stakeholder Communication : Engage with a16z General Partners and portfolio company leaders, effectively managing expectations and delivering insights. Minimum Qualifications
4-6 years of experience
in compensation consulting, specifically in executive compensation (base salary, total cash compensation, token, and equity grant strategies). Experience working with
high-growth companies
(preferably startups). Strong analytical skills with the ability to build dynamic models using market data. Familiarity with
compensation survey best practices . Attention to detail
and ability to ensure accuracy and precision in all work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills , with the ability to manage expectations at all levels. Experience with
Salesforce ,
Looker , or other business reporting tools. Comfortable working with
ambiguity
and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. A
growth mindset , curiosity, and dedication to the team’s success. Low ego, high empathy , and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams. Salary : The anticipated salary range for this role is between
$173,000 - $202,000 , based on experience, skills, and scope. Eligible for
a16z carry program , discretionary
