Overview
As a Vice President (VP) / Senior Vice President (SVP) on Stifel's Venture Banking team, you\'ll play a key role in growing and managing relationships with early- and growth-stage companies. You\'ll be responsible for building a robust pipeline, developing new client relationships, and guiding opportunities through the entire business development lifecycle — from initial outreach to close. You will work closely with founders and executives to understand their business needs and offer tailored financial solutions, while also collaborating with internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience. The role is outward-facing and relationship-driven, with a strong emphasis on proactive outreach and execution.
Responsibilities
Source and grow a portfolio of venture-backed clients by identifying new opportunities and building relationships with startup founders, executives, and key ecosystem players
Execute an outbound-focused strategy to drive new business, including proactive prospecting and market engagement
Own the full lifecycle of new opportunities — from initial pitch to deal structuring and closing
Maintain and manage an active pipeline using Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and visibility into funnel performance and activity
Engage with key venture capital firms, advisors, and accelerators to support client acquisition and deepen market presence
Coordinate internally across teams to deliver a high-quality client experience throughout onboarding and beyond
Stay current on market trends, startup needs, and capital flow dynamics to inform outreach and product positioning
What You\'ll Bring
Experience working with or within early-stage startups, venture-backed companies, or innovation-focused ecosystems
A strong network across the startup community, with an understanding of founders\' unique banking and capital needs
Highly effective communication and presentation skills — both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to drive results through outbound business development and relationship management
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage pipeline activity and priorities effectively
Comfortable working cross-functionally and navigating a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Education & Experience
Minimum Required: Bachelor\'s Degree in finance, accounting or equivalent experience.
Minimum Required: 8+ years\' of related work experience in corporate / commercial lending, debt capital markets, finance, or accounting.
Experience in credit analysis and credit portfolio management.
Licenses & Credentials
Minimum Required: None

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
