Overview
MTSI is looking for a Data Solution Architect. You will lead the design, development, and governance of data architectures aligned with organizational objectives and complex enterprise technology ecosystems. The role requires a proven track record in innovation and leadership to guide cross-functional teams and advise senior executives in delivering scalable and secure data solutions. You will champion industry trends such as data mesh, hybrid cloud architectures, and AI/ML pipelines to enable mission-critical systems. Responsibilities
Lead design, development, and governance of data architectures (data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouses) and ensure analytics at scale. Influence cross-functional teams and advise senior executives on data strategy and solution delivery. Architect and govern cloud-native data architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including data mesh and data fabric in hybrid environments. Collaborate with UI/UX teams to ensure intuitive, usable, and user-centered data products. Maintain strong data governance, privacy compliance (GDPR/CCPA), and security across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. Apply expertise in modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse) and data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) with metadata management tools. Design and manage data integration and real-time streaming pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Talend, Informatica, Fivetran; Kafka, Kinesis, Flink). Align technical architectures with business strategy and translate complex requirements into data-driven solutions. Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines and MLOps integration is a plus. Qualifications and Requirements
Architectural Focus:
Design and govern data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures to support analytics at scale. Cloud-native data architecture proficiency, including data mesh, data fabric, and hybrid environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Design Thinking:
Familiarity with design thinking principles and user-centered data product design. Collaborate with UI/UX teams to ensure intuitive, usable systems. Leadership and Communication:
Strong communicator and technical leader with experience advising executives, managing cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring junior architects and engineers. Governance and Security:
Knowledge of data governance frameworks, privacy regulations (GDPR/CCPA), and security across data types. Technical Expertise:
Proficiency with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse; deep data engineering and data modeling expertise; metadata management with tools like ER/Studio, dbt, Apache Atlas. Integration and Pipelines:
Experience with data integration tools (Airflow, Talend, Informatica, Fivetran); real-time streaming pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink). Experience:
Minimum 15 years in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data systems; proven ability to design and implement large-scale, secure data solutions. Strategic Vision:
Ability to align architectures with business strategy and translate requirements into data-driven solutions. AI and MLOps:
Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines and MLOps integration (considered a plus). Certifications (Strongly Desired)
CDMP (DAMA International) AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty Google Professional Data Engineer Azure Solutions Architect Expert TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification Mission-Critical and Education
Prior success in regulated, mission-critical, and government environments; experience designing secure or classified data solutions. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (required); Master’s or PhD preferred. Work Location and Security
