Job Captain at HPI Architecture. Newport Beach, CA, US location. Posted on Wed, Jul 23 '25. Salary: $71,380 - $96,143 annually. As Job Captain at HPI, you are an integral part of the technical team involved in the Design Development and Construction Documents phases of projects. This role supports the Project Architect, and the Senior Job Captain as applicable, in the production of Design Development and Construction Documents submissions that are well-drawn both technically and graphically as well as clear, well-coordinated, and complete. By applying your technical, problem-solving, software and graphics skills you will assist in the completion of high-quality drawings, specifications, and Revit models that meet the standards and expectations of the firm and our clients. In addition, we may ask you to assist the Design Team or Construction Administration Team with tasks during the Schematic Design or Construction phases of projects. This hybrid role is available in either our Newport Beach or San Diego office. Responsibilities
BIM
Support Project Architect and Senior Job Captain in 3D modeling and documentation in Revit Modeling of projects of moderate size or complexity or portions of large, highly complex projects with oversight from Senior Job Captain and BIM Manager Assist with the initial project setup within Revit and BIM 360, with oversight from the BIM Manager and Senior Job Captain and/or Project Architect Use of Navisworks and BIM 360 for clash detection and coordination with consultant team Ensure models are published to and from consultants and coordinate with their BIM teams QUALITY CONTROL
Self-monitor and maintain a high level of model and drawing quality and model health Maintain quality control of documents for graphics, standards, and coordination COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION
Coordinate with project designers to maintain design intent while developing model/drawings Research materials, products, systems, industry standards with oversight from Project Architect Coordinate with engineering consultants and specification writer with oversight from Senior Job Captain and Project Architect TECHNICAL DESIGN
Research materials, products, systems, industry standards with oversight from Project Architect Conduct code analysis and research, with oversight from the Project Architect and Project Manager Produce limited design, occupancy, or planning studies at direction of Project Architect Address constructability comments, plan check corrections, and senior staff review comments Work with DSA and other jurisdictional agencies to obtain approvals with oversight from Project Architect CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Participate in training provided by BIM Manager and Technical Team Pursue continuing education opportunities with guidance from mentor PREREQUISITES
