Overview Senior Analyst, Underwriting Analytics role at PURE Insurance. We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Senior Analyst to join our Underwriting Analytics team. In this role, you’ll focus on empowering the underwriting function with strategic insights into the portfolio to support data-driven decisions across the Underwriting department. You will lead the development and maintenance of real-time dashboards, build analytical tools that enable data accessibility, and conduct deep-dive analyses to detect emerging trends. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with Underwriting leadership, data teams, and other stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that directly inform underwriting strategy and performance.

What You’ll Do

Design dynamic, self-service dashboards that surface key underwriting KPIs and support diagnostic analysis.

Build and maintain analytical tools that enhance data accessibility for the Underwriting department.

Conduct deep-dive analyses using both internal and external data to uncover trends and performance drivers and regularly communicate key findings to Underwriting leadership and other stakeholders.

Assist in operational productivity measurement tracking and provide insights into staffing decisions.

Partner with the Underwriting Excellence team to tailor analytics solutions that inform risk appetite and portfolio decisions.

Present summaries of your work to Underwriting Leaders and other stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.

Ensure consistency in data definitions, methodologies, and reporting across the Underwriting organization and align with enterprise-wide data governance standards.

Mentor junior analysts and contribute to analytical knowledge sharing within the team.

What We’re Looking For

3-5 years of experience in a data or analytics role

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex datasets and translate them into business value

Advanced SQL skills with experience working with large, relational databases. Python is preferred but not required.

Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, and ability to design intuitive, self-service dashboards

Understanding of underwriting, insurance, or risk analytics with experience in property & casualty insurance is highly preferred

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making

Strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to data accuracy, consistency, and documentation

Ability to work collaboratively across teams — especially with underwriters, data engineering teams, and company leadership

Demonstrated level of curiosity with a track record of taking initiative and driving projects from concept to execution with minimal oversight

Commitment to continuous learning and mentorship, contributing to a culture of knowledge sharing within the Underwriting Analytics team

Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field, including but not limited to Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Data Science

Compensation The base salary for this role can range from $70,000 to $90,000 based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
