Save Job

About the Job We are seeking a Mechatronics / Robotics Engineer with a passion for robot autonomy, dexterous manipulation, and robotic systems that bridge the gap between human control and autonomous intelligence. In this role, you will own the development of operator-in-the-loop interfaces (e.g., teleoperation/telepresence technology) that assists research & development of dexterous manipulation capabilities. You’ll design and prototype systems that minimize latency, integrate multimodal sensors beyond vision, and enable novel data collection pipelines to fuel cutting-edge robot learning research.

This is a unique opportunity for an engineer excited by both research and fast-paced technology development, delivering impactful systems that enable our researchers while directly shaping the future of humanoid autonomy.

What You’ll Get To Do

1. Build Human-in-the-loop Systems

Implement intuitive human-in-the-loop interfaces to support R&D of dexterous manipulation tasks

Develop low-latency operator-in-the-loop (e.g., teleoperation/telepresence) pipelines for humanoid robot manipulation platforms

2. Sensor Integration & Exploration

Integrate multimodal sensors (vision, haptics, force, tactile, etc.) for richer telepresence

Explore new sensing modalities to improve operator immersion and feedback precision

3. Robotics Hardware & Control

Collaborate with hardware teams on mechatronic design supporting teleoperation and telepresence readiness

Design and test real-time control algorithms for reliable and responsive humanoid operation

4. Data Collection for Robot Learning

Develop systems that generate high-quality datasets for training autonomous robotic models

Ensure data pipelines are robust, scalable, and adaptable for research needs

5. Fast Delivery & Collaboration

Work closely with researchers to rapidly prototype and iterate on new ideas

Balance engineering rigor with speed to meet urgent data collection goals

What You Have

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field

3+ years of hands-on experience in robotics system development (academic or industry)

Strong background in mechatronics, electromechanical systems, and robotics hardware

Proficiency in robot kinematics, dynamics, and control systems

Experience with real-time systems and latency-sensitive applications

Familiarity with sensors (IMUs, force/torque, tactile, cameras) and integration methods

Proficiency in at least one robotics framework (ROS, ROS 2, or equivalent)

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to rapidly prototype solutions

Enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving, research-driven environment

The Extras That Set You Apart

Prior experience with humanoid robots or dexterous manipulation

Hands-on experience with haptics, exoskeletons, or wearable teleoperation systems

Background in telepresence, VR/AR, or immersive operator interfaces

Knowledge of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or robot learning pipelines

Experience with GPU-based real-time systems and high-performance computing

Contributions to open-source robotics or teleoperation projects

Passion for bridging human-robot interaction with autonomy research
