The Loan Portfolio Manager will serve as a member of a team consisting of two additional Loan Portfolio Managers under the leadership of the Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management. This position is responsible for supporting the Lender throughout the loan closing process and for managing borrower relationships across the life of the loan. Key Responsibilities
Lead the loan closing and post-closing process in accordance with internal procedures, in coordination with borrowers, internal stakeholders, title companies, and legal counsel. Serve as a relationship manager, building trusted partnerships with borrowers to support their success while protecting Invest Detroit’s interests. This will include, but is not limited to, serving as the primary point of contact regarding disbursements, payments, reporting obligations, and loan monitoring requirements. Prepare and maintain credit memoranda to support ongoing portfolio management and ensure alignment with credit and program guidelines. Process loan disbursement requests, including complex real estate construction draws (involving multiple capital stacks) and receivables analysis, review budgets, payment applications, lien waivers, and project inspections. Oversee and maintain complete and accurate loan documentation and files as well as loan data in the organization’s portfolio management systems. Review and coordinate due diligence materials, including appraisals, environmental reports, construction contracts, title commitments, ALTA surveys, and budgets. Support the loan payoff process in collaboration with borrowers, title companies, and third-party lenders. Collaborate with the Portfolio Risk Management team as it relates to annual risk ratings and watch list asset reporting. Contribute to special projects and community engagement initiatives that advance Invest Detroit’s mission. Qualifications
Required: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in commercial lending Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in construction draw management, preferably as a lender representative Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field At least 2 years of experience in loan portfolio management 1–2 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM/loan management systems Additional Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities Proven critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities High attention to detail and strong analytical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functions Salary Range
Invest Detroit offers a competitive salary range of $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 for the Loan Portfolio Manager position along with a strong benefits package and opportunities for professional growth, commensurate with experience and skills.
