About Wealthfront Engineering

Wealthfront’s culture centers around continuous learning, innovation, and quality-driven software development. With high quality software as our engineering objective, our key tactic is automation: building and operating in production, automating tests, observability, and development processes to minimize toil. If you are drawn to being an engineer within such an environment and having outsized impact at a company of our size (~250 employees, half in engineering), we want to hear from you! About the Role

We are looking for backend engineers to join core product development teams. You’ll design and build new features or enhance existing features that support Wealthfront’s products, with automated instrumentation and monitoring to require minimal operational maintenance. You’ll improve maintainability and stability by fixing issues and adding enhancements to existing backend systems. You’ll ensure mission-critical systems operate smoothly in production by triaging and resolving operational issues as part of a team of on-call engineers. You’ll proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability and scalability. You might participate in recruiting activities such as interviewing and attending career fairs and provide mentorship to other engineers on the team. About You

2-6 years of experience developing backend components, services, or APIs in Java or a similar language. Knowledge of distributed systems and functional programming paradigms. Knowledge of SQL and experience with online data stores (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server; NoSQL is acceptable). Passion for agile, test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated testing. Interest in platforms and backend systems with measurable business impact and working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment. Nice-to-have: Spark pipelines, ORM technologies (e.g., Hibernate), and dependency injection frameworks (Guice, Spring, Pico, Dagger). Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science or a related field. What Wealthfront Will Provide
