About the Role
We are building the next generation of robotic systems that transform how millions of customer orders are fulfilled every day. We are seeking a Camera Systems Engineer to design, evaluate, and integrate advanced imaging solutions that enable high-fidelity robotic perception at scale. Note:
This role focuses on integrating and tuning off-the-shelf camera systems (RGB, monochrome, stereo, and depth) into robotics platforms. It does not involve custom lens design, laser optics, or microscopy. What You’ll Do
Select, evaluate, and integrate commercial camera modules (RGB, mono, stereo, depth) into robotic perception systems. Develop and automate methods for camera performance characterization (noise, distortion, MTF, SNR, color accuracy, dynamic range). Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to optimize image signal processing (ISP) pipelines for robotic applications. Define system requirements, create test plans, and conduct experiments at system and subsystem levels. Work with suppliers and internal customers to qualify and validate camera solutions for high-volume deployment. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optics, or related discipline. 5+ years of experience in camera systems engineering, from concept to production. Direct, hands-on experience with 2D imaging systems (RGB, mono, stereo, or depth cameras). Proven ability to tune and characterize camera systems, including ISP tuning, calibration, and performance analysis. Knowledge of camera performance metrics (MTF, distortion, noise, color, dynamic range, rolling/global shutter). Familiarity with Zemax simulation tool, applied to camera system analysis (not lens manufacturing or laser optics). Preferred Qualifications
Experience with camera calibration frameworks (OpenCV, MATLAB, custom pipelines). Hands-on experience with image quality evaluation tools (Imatest or similar). Strong background in sensor characterization methodologies and test automation. Experience working with suppliers of camera modules and imaging sensors. Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
