The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking applications for a 12-month, Tenured/Tenure-Track, open rank faculty position. The College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in Illinois, providing care for 35,000 patients a year and having over 500 students in DMD, PhD and Master’s programs. Duties & Responsibilities

The faculty member will have clinical, research, teaching and service obligations. Responsibilities include direct and indirect involvement in post-doctoral and pre-doctoral specialty educational programs for DMD and Advanced Standing students, as well as postgraduate residents in the OMFS department. Programmatic responsibilities include didactic, laboratory, clinical and patient care courses and other assignments for OMFS. The faculty member shall work with the Department Head and be responsible for development of the program curriculum, staff development and administrative needs of the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral OMFS educational programs. Research and scholarly activities are expected, including presentations of abstracts, posters, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Minimum Qualifications

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a MD degree, with fellowship training in head and neck oncology/microvascular reconstruction. Completion of an ADA CODA-accredited advanced education program in OMFS. Dental (and medical, if applicable) licensure in Illinois. OMFS Board Certification by ABOMS. ABOMS Diplomate status highly preferred, or qualification for such status. Strong qualifications include evidence-based dentistry, curriculum development and practice management. Postdoctoral training with a strong research and publication record. Ability to develop an independent research program with evidence of internal and external grant funding. Demonstrated ability or potential to attract external funding. Commitment to interdisciplinary patient care and collaboration with other departments. History of sustained intramural and extramural funded research and mentoring in research. Previous university-level teaching experience at pre-doctoral and postdoctoral levels. Ability to mentor students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. Strong peer-reviewed publication record and research funding. Experience mentoring junior faculty and students. Strong interpersonal skills and experience fostering collaborative research with external entities (eg, medical centers). Application Instructions
