Palo Alto Networks CDSS group is looking for a seasoned platformization and cloud automation engineer to design, develop and deliver next-generation technologies within our CASB teams. We seek leaders who take ownership of their area of focus and solve challenging technical problems using best practices and state-of-the-art technologies. Collaboration and teamwork are foundational, and we need engineers who can communicate effectively and work well with others toward a common goal. Work with development teams to ensure that applications have scalability and reliability built-in from day one - agile is second nature to you and you’re excited to work in scrum teams and represent the DevOps perspective Design, review and enhance software architecture to improve scalability, service reliability, cost, and performance - you’ve helped create services that are critical to their customers’ success Drive platformization by building standardized, self-service infrastructure platforms that improve developer productivity, scalability, and operational efficiency Deploy automation for provisioning and operating infrastructure at large scale. You are experienced in cloud Infrastructure as Code concepts and have put them into production Partner with teams to improve CI/CD processes and technology - helping teams deliver value early is a goal Mentor members of the staff on large scale cloud deployments - you’re an expert in deploying in the cloud and can share your experience Drive the adoption of observability practices and a data-driven mindset - you love metrics and dashboards to help others gain visibility Set up processes like on-call rotations, postmortems, and runbooks to support the infrastructure owned by the SRE team while improving reliability Support, optimize and deploy mission critical front-end and back-end production Improve site performance, monitoring, and overall stability of our infrastructure Qualifications

Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field 7+ years of industry engineering experience Fluent scripting skills (preferably Python or Bash) with deep experience in Unix/Linux systems 4+ years of experience with Microservices architectures on Kubernetes Hands-on experience with container tools like Docker, Helm for managing workloads in Kubernetes Experience managing AWS and GCP at scale, with knowledge of cloud-neutral connectivity between platforms Experience designing and maintaining API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI, and working with API frameworks such as Apigee Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, etc. Proficient in CI/CD platforms like GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, CircleCI In-depth knowledge of operating systems (processes, threads, concurrency, etc) Implement and enforce network and cloud security best practices Drive observability initiatives with distributed tracing, standardized logging, dashboards, and profiling using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems Experience with setting up and troubleshooting Nginx or Ingress Nginx Hands-on production experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Amazon Redshift, BigQuery Experience tuning and guiding long-term strategy for self-hosted or managed solutions Strong communication skills and the ability to lead across teams Experience evaluating and integrating AI-powered tools to streamline workflows Additional Information

Compensation Disclosure The compensation offered for this position depends on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates offered at the posted level, the starting base salary is expected to be between $147,000 - $235,000 per year, plus potential stock units and a bonus.
