Mid-Level Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer - Digital & Analog Circuits The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking a mid-level Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer - Digital & Analog Circuits to join the Transport Data Systems (TDS) Airborne Data Acquisition and Recording hardware team in Seattle, WA.

About Us: The Transport Data Systems (TDS) group supports flight testing of Boeing Commercial and Military Derivative Airplanes, acquiring, recording, storing, analyzing, and managing data that characterize each test. The team is structured around the products and services provided, with dedicated management and team leadership support.

Position Responsibilities Include:

Collaborate with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements

Develop instrumentation and data-system software, integrate it with hardware platforms, and conduct system tests to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements

Analyze and translate requirements into system, hardware, and software designs, creating interface specifications that aggregate test data from multiple aircraft sensors, perform real-time calculations, display results to test crews, and maintain data archive systems for post-test analysis

Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fielded hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle

Research and evaluate specific technology advancements for potential application to business needs, demonstrating new capabilities to end users

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

2+ years of experience in electrical circuit design using components such as microcontrollers, FPGA, ADCs and DACs

2+ years of experience with development, test and implementation of image processing and computer vision algorithms and systems in Matlab and/or embedded software environments (typically C/C++)

2+ years of experience with laboratory test equipment, including logic analyzers and digital oscilloscopes

2+ years of experience developing, documenting and maintaining complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, software-to-hardware interfaces, and designs for software systems

Working knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP

Experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

3+ years of relevant experience

Understanding of electronics, microcontroller architectures and interfaces such as UART, SPI and I2C

Basic understanding of electronics and reading of electrical schematics and component datasheets

Additional software development languages and tools (e.g., Docker, Django, LabVIEW)

Experience with Software DevOps tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, GitLab, CI/CD)

Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)

Experience with Linux system configuration and package management

Familiarity with instrumentation and data systems, including sensor calibration and real-time data processing

Understanding of flight-test methodologies and aircraft certification requirements

Knowledge of aircraft data-bus and data-system I/O protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, CAN, 1553)

Experience with software build and test automation tools

Understanding of object-oriented software design principles and software testing methodologies, including test-driven development

Proficient in operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux) and software development/testing tools

Ability to design databases and reporting structures, with experience in software documentation tools (e.g., Doxygen, UML)

Pay & Benefits:

Boeing offers a Total Rewards package including base pay and variable compensation opportunities, along with a range of benefit programs (health insurance, FSAs/HSA, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time away).

The specific programs available vary by location, eligibility, and collective bargaining agreements. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $104,550 - $141,450.
