Key Responsibilities of CFO

Oversee all accounting, budgeting, and fiscal service functions for the Town in accordance with state statutes, Town Charter, and regulatory requirements. Supervise the operations of the Fiscal Office and lead a small team of finance staff. Act as ex-officio Treasurer of all Town trust funds. Manage cash flow, investments, and debt, including forecasting and financial planning. Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure all transactions are recorded properly. Establish and monitor effective internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB standards. Analyze and monitor monthly expenditures, prepare budget projections, and oversee transfers. Prepare and present timely financial reports to the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Retirement and Pension Board, and other governing bodies as required. Serve as liaison with the Town Retirement and Pension Board, actuaries, and investment managers. Coordinate annual audit activities and prepare year-end financial statements. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports to meet State and Federal reporting requirements. Qualifications of CFO

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Public Administration Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial management. Prior experience in a municipality or government setting is a plus, though not required CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CPFO (Certified Public Finance Officer) designation is also a plus Knowledge & Skills of CFO

Strong knowledge of municipal finance, government accounting practices, and related regulations. Familiarity with GAAP and GASB financial reporting requirements. Proven ability to prepare accurate financial reports, budgets, and presentations. Supervisory experience with demonstrated team leadership and staff development skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with governing boards, auditors, and the public. Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software; comfortable learning new systems. Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Seniorities & Employment
